communication unit in a communication system, especially in a radio
communication system. To keep the response time of a communication unit
operating in a standby mode as short as possible following a user input,
it is provided according to the invention that, in response to an
interrupt request, the time still remaining to the next activation is
reduced to a time which is sufficient for preparing the activation if the
time still remaining is greater than a predetermined time.
