The invention relates to 17-methylene steroids, process for their
production and pharmaceutical compositions that contain these compounds.
The compounds according to the invention have a hybrid-type profile of
action in the sense that they act as inhibitors of 5.alpha.-reductase and
simultaneously as gestagens. They are therefore suitable for treating
diseases that are the result of elevated androgen levels in certain organs
and tissues in men and women. Together with other hormonal substances,
such as an estrogen, testosterone or a strong androgen, the compounds
according to the invention are suitable as contraceptive agents for women
and for men.
La invención se relaciona con los esteroides 17-methylene, el proceso para su producción y las composiciones farmacéuticas que contienen estos compuestos. Los compuestos según la invención tienen un hi'brido-tipo perfil de acción en el sentido que actúan como inhibidores de 5.alpha.-reductase y simultáneamente como gestagens. Son por lo tanto convenientes para las enfermedades que tratan que son el resultado de los niveles elevados del andrógeno en ciertos órganos y de los tejidos finos en hombres y mujeres. Junto con otras sustancias hormonales, tales como un estrógeno, testosterona o un andrógeno fuerte, los compuestos según la invención son convenientes como agentes anticonceptivos para las mujeres y para los hombres.
