The present method provides the amino acid sequence and encoding nucleic
acid sequence of GlutRNAGln amidotransferase (AdT), a protein that is
essential for protein translation. The AdT proteins and encoding nucleic
acid molecules herein described can be used as targets for identifying
agents that block translations. Such agents can be used as an
antimicrobial, antifungal or herbicide agent.
