Compounds of Formula (1) and salts thereof:

wherein:
A is optionally substituted phenyl;
R.sup.1 and R.sup.2 are each independently optionally substituted alkyl or
optionally substituted alkoxy; and
R.sup.4 and R.sup.5 are each independently H, optionally substituted alkyl
or optionally substituted aryl;
provided that (i) at least one of R.sup.1 and R.sup.2 carries an --OH
group; and
(ii) A is not of the formula:

wherein m is 1, 2 or 3.
The compounds are useful as dyes for ink jet printing inks.
Samenstellingen van Formule (1) en zouten daarvan: ## STR1 ## waarin: A is naar keuze gesubstitueerd fenyl; R.sup.1 en R.sup.2 zijn elke onafhankelijk naar keuze gesubstitueerde alkyl of naar keuze gesubstitueerde alkoxy; en R.sup.4 en R.sup.5 zijn elk onafhankelijk H, naar keuze gesubstitueerde alkyl of naar keuze gesubstitueerde aryl; op voorwaarde dat (i) minstens één van R.sup.1 en R.sup.2 een groep -OH vervoert; en (ii) A is niet van de formule: ## STR2 ## waarin m 1..2 of 3 is. De samenstellingen zijn nuttig als kleurstoffen voor inkt straaldrukinkten.
