An electronic device includes a semiconductor layer in contact with a
number of electrodes, wherein the semiconductive layer includes a compound
wherein either or both of the following geometric isomers of the compound
are present:

wherein:
n is 1, 2 or 3 for the polycyclic moiety; and
R.sub.1 and R.sub.2 are independently selected from the group consisting of
a hydrocarbon ring and a heterocyclic group, wherein R.sub.1 and R.sub.2
are the same or different hydrocarbon ring, the same or different
heterocyclic group, or one of R.sub.1 and R.sub.2 is the hydrocarbon ring
and the other the heterocyclic group.
Eine elektronische Vorrichtung schließt eine Halbleiterschicht in Verbindung mit einer Anzahl von Elektroden ein, worin die semiconductive Schicht ein Mittel miteinschließt, worin irgendein oder beide der folgenden geometrischen Isomere des Mittels anwesend sind: ## STR1 ## worin: n ist 1, 2 oder 3 für die polyzyklische Hälfte; und R.sub.1 und R.sub.2 werden unabhängig von der Gruppe vorgewählt, die aus einem Kohlenwasserstoffring bestehen und eine heterozyklische Gruppe, worin R.sub.1 und R.sub.2 gleichen oder unterschiedliche der Kohlenwasserstoffring, gleichen oder unterschiedliche heterozyklische Gruppe sind, oder eins von R.sub.1 und von R.sub.2 ist der Kohlenwasserstoffring und der andere die heterozyklische Gruppe.
