A doorbell having interchangeable chimes and interchangeable decorative
covers is displayed for sale to the retail public such that a customer
may easily choose a specific chime sound and combine it with a specific
decorative cover enabling the customer to buy a doorbell meeting the
customer's aesthetic requirement. The interchangeable bases and covers
may include complimentary attachment parts that allow any cover to be
mounted to any of a plurality of bases of differing size and in different
orientations.
