The invention relates to novel anhydrous (.beta.) lactitol crystals,
belonging to the orthorhombic P2.sub.1 2.sub.1 2.sub.1 cystal system and
having unit cell constants a=9.6 .ANG., b=11.1 .ANG., c=14.0 .ANG.. The
invention also relates to crystalline lactitol products containing the
novel anhydrous .beta. lactitol and to a process for the preparation
thereof by crystallizing from an aqueous solution of lactitol. The novel
anhydrous .beta. lactitol is stable and nonhygroskopic and it may be used
as a substitute for sugar in foodstuffs and sweets, in as well as in
pharmaceutical and hygienic products.
Η εφεύρεση αφορά νέο άνυδρο (ψετα.) κρύσταλλα lactitol, που ανήκουν στο ορθορομβικό cystal σύστημα P2.sub.1 2.sub.1 2.sub.1 και που έχουν το ANG σταθερών a=9.6 κυττάρων μονάδων., b=11.1. ANG. ANG c=14.0 .. Η εφεύρεση αφορά επίσης τα κρυστάλλινα προϊόντα lactitol που περιέχουν το νέο άνυδρο lactitol ψετα. και μια διαδικασία για την προετοιμασία επ' αυτού με την κρυστάλλωση από ένα διάλυμα ύδατος του lactitol. Το νέο άνυδρο lactitol ψετα. είναι σταθερό και nonhygroskopic και μπορεί να χρησιμοποιηθεί ως υποκατάστατο της ζάχαρης στα τρόφιμα και τα γλυκά, σε καθώς επίσης και στα φαρμακευτικά και υγιεινά προϊόντα.
