Provided is a fecal condition improving composition containing (a) a
compound selected from the group consisting of caffeic acid, chlorogenic
acid and ferulic acid, esters thereof, and pharmaceutically acceptable
salts thereof, (b) a water-soluble and hardlyfermentable dietary fiber,
and (c) a water-soluble and fermentable dietary fiber.
The composition of the present invention is useful as a food or beverage,
or a pharmaceutical for improving the fecal condition of humans or
animals, more specifically, inhibiting intestinal clamping due to
imbalance of the autonomic nervous system caused by psychological stress
or dietary change, suppressing abdominal pain or discomfort, improving
the fecal condition, and ameliorating constipation.
