The first step in human meningococcal infection involves adhesion to the
epithelial cells of the nasopharynx tract. The invention provides various
methods and compounds for preventing the attachment of Neisserial cells
to epithelial cells and is based on the identification of 347
meningococcal genes which play a role in the adhesion process.
