A process for the production of a graft copolymer comprises reacting an irradiated
polymer in a reaction mixture comprising a first phase and a second phase. The
first phase comprises a source of at least one non-water soluble monomer and the
second phase comprises water and optionally, a water miscible organic solvent.
The first and second phases are substantially immiscible and non-emusifiel. A high
degree on monomer conversion is achieved.
