The invention provides transgenic nonhuman mammals capable secreting
exogenous procollagen or collagen into their milk. The mammals are
healthy and capable of producing procollagen or collagen at high levels,
usually in trimeric form. Suitable transgenes for incorporation into the
mammals are also provided.
