A bactericide useful as a shelf life extender for produce and other food products.
The bactericide is an aqueous solution formed from water, copper sulfate pentahydrate
and a reagent, which can either be an acid or hydrogen peroxide. The bactericide
is applied as a coating on the food product and is especially useful in extending
the shelf life of fruits and vegetables. Other applications of the bactericide
include treatment of drinking water, bacteria and algae control in pools and natural
bodies of, water and as a disinfectant in cleansers.
