Disclosed is a method and system for providing an elastic drive mechanism
in which the compressive force and torque created by the twisting of an elastic
member used to power an aircraft are isolated from the fuselage, and specifically
isolated from the flight control and aerodynamics surfaces of the aircraft. By
isolating the elastic drive mechanism from traditional rearward fixed contact points
on the fuselage, the detrimental consequences of these elastic forces are eliminated
producing longer, farther and more controlled flights.
