The present invention relates to an electroionic apparatus for treating an
aqueous solution, including a flow cell through which the aqueous
solution may flow, and a high frequency AC power source. A pair of
electrodes within the flow cell are in contact with the aqueous solution
and coupled to the AC power source. The AC power source generates a
signal that is transmitted to the electrodes to generate an
electromagnetic field and an ionic current within the aqueous solution in
the flow cell. Each electrode includes a plurality of perforations
defined through the plate electrode. Electrodes within the flow cell may
be formed of materials having a catalytic effect upon the electroionic
reactions within the flow cell.
