It is an object of the present invention to provide a liquid crystal
composition with high response speed without lowering various
characteristics of a liquid crystal, such as voltage holding rate and
phase transition temperature. One feature of the invention is that a
nematic liquid crystal and an inert fluid containing fluorine
(C.sub.mF.sub.n or C.sub.mF.sub.nO (n and m are natural numbers)) are
mixed. Another feature of the invention is that a content of a
fluorine-based inert solution (C.sub.mF.sub.n or C.sub.mF.sub.nO (n and m
are natural numbers)) is 10 wt % or more to 60 wt % or less with respect
to the nematic liquid crystal.
