Process for preparing a composition comprising one or more steroidal glycosides, comprising the steps of: (a) harvesting Hoodia plants, (b) cutting up the harvested plants, (c) drying the cut plants,whereby exposure to UV light during the drying step is avoided, such that the total UV dose is less than about 0.5 kJ/m.sup.2 to obtain dried plant material.
