Nutritional food oil compositions containing all of the essential fatty
acids and the highly recommended omega-3 fatty acid DHA in correct
proportions making it convenient and easy for consumers to supplement
their diets with these fatty acids in the proper amounts, thereby
deriving the health benefits of these fatty acids. A nutritional food oil
composition is provided comprising alpha-linolenic acid (ALA) and
linoleic acid (LA), wherein the ratio of the amount of ALA to LA in the
composition by weight is in the range of 1.5:1 to 6:1, and together the
ALA and LA comprise at least 65% by weight of the composition, and
docahexaenoic acid (DHA) from an algal source in an amount greater than
0.5% by weight of the composition.
