In a method for qualification of a frequency channel in a wire-free
communication system, data is transmitted on different frequency channels
by means of an adaptive frequency hopping method. The transmission and
reception are carried out in time slots using a time slot method which is
based on the radio standard. In order to qualify the transmission quality
of the frequency channels, data packet error rates and/or bit error rates
and the field strength of the received data signal are measured, and the
measured field strength is compared with a threshold value field strength
in order to make a selection decision.
