An ink for ink-jet recording is provided. The ink for ink-jet recording
includes colorant particles containing a colorant and a dispersing agent,
and a polymer compound capable of forming a crosslinking bond by
application of an active energy ray, wherein the dispersion average
particle diameter of the colorant particles is from 1 nm to 50 nm, and a
value represented by a formula (D.sub.90-D.sub.10) is 100 nm or less. In
the formula (D.sub.90-D.sub.10), D.sub.90 and D.sub.10 represent,
respectively, a particle diameter at which an integrated value of a
particle diameter distribution function of the colorant particles which
is represented by a formula dG=F(D)dD is 0.9 of the total number of
colorant particles (90% by number), and 0.1 of the total number of
colorant particles (10% by number), wherein G represents the number of
particles, and D represents a particle diameter.
