Disclosed user equipment performs intermittent reception in a different
frequency from a frequency of a serving cell belonging to a current radio
access network or in a different radio access network from the current
radio access network. The user equipment includes a receiving unit for
receiving and demodulating a control signal and a cell search unit for
performing a cell search in a specified frequency. When a release signal
is received, the user equipment switches to a preliminary intermittent
reception mode where the receiving unit intermittently receives the
control signal in the serving cell and the cell search unit performs the
cell search in the different frequency or the different radio access
network between intermittent reception timings. Then, the user equipment
switches to a normal intermittent reception mode where the receiving unit
intermittently receives the control signal in the different frequency or
the different radio access network.
