In one embodiment, a system and method for quantifying cardiac
dyssynchrony relate to capturing images of the heart over time as it
beats, generating heart function profiles for discrete portions of the
myocardium from the captured images, the heart function profiles each
pertaining to a heart function parameter as a function of time, and
performing cross-correlation on the generated heart function profiles to
yield a cross-correlation function that identifies a time delay at which
the heart function profiles temporally correlate most closely, the time
delay being indicative of a degree of cardiac dyssynchrony.
