A compound of the formula (I) ##STR1## wherein A is O, S, CHR.sup.1 or NR.sup.2, R.sup.1 and R.sup.2 are H, lower alkyl, X.sup.1 and X.sup.2 are H, halogen, nitro, cyano, etc., Y.sup.1 is H, lower alkyl, Z.sup.1 and Z.sup.2 are H, halogen, cyano, hydroxy, lower alkyl, etc., and n is an integer of 2 to 4, a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof, a process for preparing the same, a pharmaceutical composition containing the same as an active ingredient, and an intermediate therefor. The compounds (I) of the present invention show a potent PDE IV inhibitory activity as well as an excellent bronchodilating activity, and hence, they are widely useful as a PDE IV inhibitor in the treatment or prophylaxis of allergic inflammatory diseases or organ inflammatory diseases, especially in the treatment or prophylaxis of pulmonary diseases accompanied by airway obstruction such as asthma.

Un composé du ## du ## STR1 de la formule (i) où A est O, S, CHR.sup.1 ou NR.sup.2, R.sup.1 et R.sup.2 sont H, alkyl inférieur, X.sup.1 et X.sup.2 sont H, halogène, nitro, cyano, etc., Y.sup.1 est H, alkyl inférieur, Z.sup.1 et Z.sup.2 sont H, halogène, cyano, hydroxy, inférieur alkyl, etc., et n est un nombre entier de 2 à de 4, d'un sel pharmaceutiquement acceptable en, d'un procédé pour préparer la même chose, d'une composition pharmaceutique contenant les mêmes qu'une substance active, et d'une intermédiaire pour cette fin. Les composés (i) de l'exposition actuelle d'invention une activité inhibitrice de PDE IV efficace aussi bien qu'une excellente activité bronchodilating, et par conséquent, ils sont largement utiles comme inhibiteur de PDE IV dans le traitement ou la prophylaxie des maladies inflammatoires allergiques ou des maladies inflammatoires d'organe, particulièrement dans le traitement ou la prophylaxie des maladies pulmonaires accompagnées d'obstruction des voies respiratoires telle que l'asthme.
