Creation of the switch-on signal of the pump is dependent on a pressure gradient variable, in particular on an accumulator pressure gradient. On the one hand this makes possible compensation for disturbances, for example the influence of temperature on the pressure medium, which is expressed as a small pressure gradient; and on the other hand it prevents the pressure from falling greatly below a lower threshold value in the event of a high volume demand request, i.e., prevents a severe pressure drop and thus a large pressure gradient.
