An amorphous alloy ribbon free from embrittlement and crystallization and
having excellent surface conditions and shape in edge portions is produced
by (a) preparing an alloy melt having a composition comprising 13 atomic %
or less of B and 15 atomic % or less of at least one selected from the
group consisting of transition elements of Groups 4A, 5A and 6A, the
balance being substantially Fe; (b) ejecting the alloy melt at a
temperature from the melting point of the alloy +50.degree. C. to the
melting point of the alloy +250.degree. C. through a nozzle onto the
cooling roll rotating at a peripheral speed of 35 m/second or less, a
distance between a tip end of the nozzle and the cooling roll being 200
.mu.m or less; (c) starting to supply a gas based on CO.sub.2 to the alloy
melt after the surface temperature of the cooling roll has become
substantially constant; and (d) grinding the cooling roll while supplying
the gas based on CO.sub.2.
Een amorf legeringslint vrij van bros maken en kristallisatie en het hebben van uitstekende oppervlaktevoorwaarden en vorm in wordt randgedeelten geproduceerd door (a) een legeringssmelting voor te bereiden die een samenstelling heeft bestaand uit 13 atomic% of minder van B en 15 atomic% of minder van minstens één geselecteerd uit de groep die uit overgangselementen bestaat van Groepen 4A, 5A en 6A die, het saldo wezenlijk Fe zijn; (b) uitwerpend de legeringssmelting bij een temperatuur van het smeltpunt van de legering + 50.degree. C. aan het smeltpunt van de legering + 250.degree. C. door een pijp op het koelbroodje dat bij een randsnelheid van 35 m/seconde of minder, een afstand tussen een uiteindeeind roteert van de pijp en het koelbroodje dat 200 is mu.m of minder; (c) beginnend om een gas te leveren dat op CO.sub.2 aan de legeringssmelting wordt gebaseerd nadat de oppervlaktetemperatuur van het koelbroodje wezenlijk constant is geworden; en (d) malend het koelbroodje terwijl het leveren van het gas dat op CO.sub.2 wordt gebaseerd.
