A class of 1-phenyl imidazol-2-one biphenylmethyl compounds is described
for use in treatment of circulatory disorders. Compounds of particular
interest are angiotensin II antagonists of the formula

wherein each of R.sup.1, R.sup.2 and R.sup.3 is independently selected from
hydrido, alkyl, alkoxy, cyano, halo, hydroxy, carboxyl, alkoxycarbonyl,
formyl and acetyl; alkylcarbonyl and haloalkylcarbonyl; with the proviso
that at least one of R.sup.1, R.sup.2 and R.sup.3 must be a substituent
other than hydrido, and with the further proviso that when each of R.sup.1
and R.sup.3 is hydrido, then R.sup.2 cannot be chloro; wherein R.sup.4 is
hydrido; wherein R.sup.5 is alkyl; and wherein R.sup.6 is tetrazolyl; or a
stereoisomer or a tautomer thereof or a pharmaceutically-acceptable salt
thereof. These compounds are particularly useful in treatment or control
of hypertension and congestive heart failure.
Une classe des composés de biphenylmethyl de 1-phenyl imidazol-2-one est décrite pour l'usage dans le traitement des désordres circulatoires. Les composés d'intérêt particulier sont des antagonistes de l'angiotensine II du ## du ## STR1 de formule où chacun de R.sup.1, de R.sup.2 et de R.sup.3 est indépendamment choisi parmi le hydrido, l'alkyl, alcoxy, cyano, halo, hydroxy, carboxylique, alkoxycarbonyl, formyle et acétyle ; alkylcarbonyl et haloalkylcarbonyl ; à la condition qu'au moins un de R.sup.1, R.sup.2 et R.sup.3 doive être un substituant autre que le hydrido, et avec la clause conditionnelle supplémentaire qui quand chacun de R.sup.1 et R.sup.3 est hydrido, alors R.sup.2 ne peut pas être chloro ; où R.sup.4 est hydrido ; où R.sup.5 est alkylique ; et où R.sup.6 est tetrazolyl ; ou un stéréoisomère ou un tautomer en ou un sel pharmaceutiquement acceptable en. Ces composés sont particulièrement utiles dans le traitement ou la commande de l'hypertension et de l'arrêt du coeur congestif.
