A pre-measured portion package for preparing a brewed beverage having a
container for being filled with a pre-measured portion of an aroma
carrier. The container has a circumferential side wall, a bottom, and a
lid. The side wall and the bottom are formed of a single piece of material
that is water permeable and capable of filtering; at least the side-wall
is compacted to be water impermeable; at least a section of the bottom is
water permeable and functions as a filter. The lid is also formed of a
material that is water permeable and capable of filtering, is compacted in
its circumferential edge region to be water impermeable, and is connected
to an upper edge of the side wall to form a seal.
