The present invention provides a magnetic recording medium such as a flexible
disk which is capable of high-density recording and is excellent in magnetic property.
The magnetic recording medium comprises a magnetic layer, including a cobalt-containing
ferromagnetic alloy and a non-magnetic material, on at least one surface of a non-magnetic
substrate, wherein the ferromagnetic alloy forms a columnar structure.
